A vanilla prepaid card functions as a payment method that contains a preset balance added in advance. Operating on widely accepted networks such as Visa or Mastercard, it can be used at many retail locations and online services until the loaded value is used up. Unlike credit cards, these prepaid cards do not involve borrowing money, interest charges, or repayment obligations. Spending is limited strictly to the amount available on the card. Unlike debit cards, vanilla prepaid cards are not directly connected to a bank account. This makes them suitable for controlled spending and transactions where bank linkage is not required. Once the balance reaches zero, the card becomes inactive.
